Trauma and PTSD Counseling

Each counselor at Core Counseling is a Trauma Informed Therapist. This means your counselor will have both the training and understanding to help you work through the impact of the event(s) you experienced.

Trauma can occur in different ways and a variety of experiences. Some people experience single event trauma, some people experience recurring trauma, and some people experience both. Your Counselor will create an individualized plan to explore and process through your emotions, based on the type of trauma you experienced.

The approaches your counselor may use include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) , and/or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

EMDR allows people to heal from the symptoms of traumatic events. Studies show that EMDR allows people to experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. For more information on EMDR, click here.

CPT is an evidenced based approach for PTSD and other symptoms related to traumatic experiences.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment for individuals impacted by trauma. Studies show that TF-CFT resolves symptoms with all types of trauma.
